Role Description

The Medical Imaging Specialist will work full time on-site at Copperbelt University in Ndola. This role involves performing and optimizing medical imaging procedures, including the safe operation of imaging equipment in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards. The specialist will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnosis, ensure high-quality imaging, and maintain detailed patient and imaging records. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and positioning patients, explaining procedures, monitoring patient safety and comfort, and adhering to radiation protection and infection control guidelines. The role also includes participating in quality assurance activities, supporting student learning where applicable, and contributing to continuous improvement in imaging practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Medical Imaging techniques and Radiology principles, with the ability to perform and interpret a range of diagnostic imaging procedures within scope of practice.
  • Solid foundation in Medicine and clinical concepts relevant to diagnostic imaging, including anatomy, pathology recognition, and clinical indications for imaging studies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Patient Care, including clear communication, patient preparation and positioning, safety monitoring, and compassionate interaction with diverse patient populations.
  • Certification or eligibility for registration with recognized professional bodies, such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or an equivalent national regulatory authority, where applicable.
  • Diploma or degree in Medical Imaging, Radiography, Radiologic Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, infection prevention, and quality assurance standards in clinical imaging environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Experience with digital imaging systems (PACS/RIS) and basic computer literacy for clinical and academic documentation.
