
To design, implement, and monitor strategies that drive the attraction, development, engagement, and retention of talent across Zamtel. The role focuses on building leadership pipelines, promoting a high-performance culture, and supporting the company’s transformation through effective talent and engagement programs that align with Zamtel’s strategic priorities.
Purpose of Job (Responsibilities)
Key Results Areas (Accountabilities)
1. ONBOARDING AND INTEGRATION
• Coordinate structured onboarding programs for new hires across all business units.
• Ensure consistency in onboarding content and experience across locations.
• Track onboarding satisfaction and early turnover indicators.
• Collaborate with line managers and HRBPs to deliver seamless orientation experiences.
• Align onboarding with Zamtel’s culture, values, and performance expectations.
2. TALENT IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT
• Implement frameworks for identifying high-potential and critical talent.
• Coordinate talent reviews and succession planning with HRBPs and line management.
• Maintain an updated internal talent pipeline and ensure follow-through on development actions.
• Track and support Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for identified talent.
3. LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
• Facilitate leadership and capability development programs.
• Support line management coaching and mentorship frameworks.
• Monitor employee participation in learning initiatives and assess learning transfer to performance.
• Collaborate with external training providers and internal subject matter experts for content development and delivery.
3. PERFORMANCE AND CAREER MANAGEMENT
• Embed career pathways, competency frameworks, and mobility programs.
• Use performance data to inform employee development and retention decisions.
• Support performance calibration and year-end review processes.
• Conduct career development sessions and training on growth planning.
4. SUCCESSION PLANNING
• Maintain succession plans and readiness assessments for key roles.
• Highlight gaps in talent pipelines and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support integration of succession plans into workforce planning efforts.
• Provide quarterly updates on bench strength and internal promotion readiness.
5. TALENT ANALYTICS AND REPORTING
• Develop and maintain talent dashboards and metrics.
• Monitor KPIs such as retention of top talent, internal mobility rate, and leadership readiness.
• Analyse talent data to identify trends and
opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare reports for HR leadership and support presentations to the Executive Committee.
6. CULTURE AND EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
• Support the design and rollout of employee engagement surveys (e.g., pulse checks, full surveys).
• Analyse engagement data, identify key drivers, and collaborate with business units on action plans.
• Lead or support culture transformation initiatives, including values-based workshops and recognition programs.
• Promote an inclusive and values-driven culture through employee campaigns and change enablement programs.
• Track participation and impact of engagement initiatives and recognition platforms.
7. EMPLOYER BRANDING AND TALENT MANAGEMENT
• Collaborate with Marketing and HR Operations & Business Partnering to strengthen Zamtel’s employer brand.
• Support career programs, internships, and talent attraction partnerships with educational institutions.
• Participate in branding events, such as career fairs, talent expos, and thought leadership panels.
Qualifications & Experience
Attributes and Skills
• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
• Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management
• Minimum3–5years’ experience in talent development, engagement, or
organizational culture initiatives, preferably in a large corporate or FMCG setting.
