
United Nations Population Fund is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, working to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA supports countries to advance reproductive rights, improve maternal health, and empower young people through evidence-based policies and programmes.
In Zambia, UNFPA is implementing its 9th Country Programme (2023–2027), focused on improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes, strengthening population data systems, and addressing inequalities affecting women, girls, and young people. As part of this cycle, UNFPA will conduct a Country Programme Evaluation (CPE) to assess programme performance, identify lessons learned, and inform the next programme cycle.
The Young and Emerging Evaluator will be based in Lusaka and will support the Evaluation Manager and team throughout all phases of the CPE, including preparation, design, data collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination of findings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Evaluation Support & Coordination
- Support the Evaluation Manager in drafting documents, organizing meetings, and coordinating evaluation activities.
- Assist with stakeholder communication and logistical arrangements for evaluation processes.
2. Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting
- Support desk reviews of relevant documents and literature.
- Participate in field data collection and contribute to data analysis.
- Assist in developing analytical outputs, reports, and evidence-based recommendations.
3. Data Management & Visualization
- Support preparation of presentations, graphs, tables, and visual materials.
- Contribute to data management, validation, and synthesis of findings.
4. Knowledge Sharing & Dissemination
- Support dissemination of evaluation findings to key stakeholders.
- Contribute to presentations and knowledge products.
5. Programme Support (Population & Development Unit)
- Support data-driven programming through research and data quality assurance.
- Assist in tracking deliverables and ensuring timely implementation of activities.
- Contribute to trend analysis and development of reports for policy and programme action.
Requirements
Experience
Minimum 3 years relevant experience, including:
- Monitoring and evaluation, research, or social studies in international development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in teams and supporting complex processes
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Proficiency in ICT tools and data visualization platforms
- Knowledge of UNFPA or UN system work is an asset
- Strong interest in building a career in evaluation (Maximum age: 35 years)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Population Studies, Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field.
Languages
- Fluent English
