About Sampay
Sampay is a licensed and regulated Payment Service Provider (PSP) delivering secure, scalable, and inclusive digital payment solutions across Zambia. We power merchants, banks, and consumers through mobile apps, POS systems, and payment gateways, advancing our mission of financial inclusion for every Zambian.
We are expanding our engineering team and are seeking two experienced Mobile App Developers with strong exposure to POS systems and payment technologies.
Role Summary
As a Mobile App Developer at Sampay, you will design, build, and maintain production-grade Android and/or iOS applications used in real-world, high-volume payment environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable fintech solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Android (Kotlin/Java) and/or iOS (Swift) applications
Build and support POS-enabled mobile applications
Integrate payment gateways, mobile money, card payments, QR codes, and NFC
Implement secure transaction flows in line with PCI-DSS and EMV standards
Integrate with POS hardware and peripherals (card readers, printers, Bluetooth/NFC devices)
Design offline-first transaction workflows with robust sync logic
Collaborate with backend, DevOps, and product teams on API integrations
Support CI/CD pipelines, app deployments, and release management
Troubleshoot, optimise performance, and resolve production issues
Required Skills & Experience
Mobile Development
Android: Kotlin/Java, Jetpack, Material Design
iOS: Swift, Core Bluetooth, External Accessory Framework
REST APIs, local storage (Room, Core Data, SQLite), Firebase/AWS
Payments & POS Systems
Experience with electronic payments and digital financial services
Hands-on POS or hardware integrations
Knowledge of PCI-DSS, EMV, NFC, AES/TLS encryption
Experience with receipt generation and transaction reconciliation
DevOps (Required)
CI/CD pipelines and mobile app deployments (Play Store / App Store)
Nice to Have
Flutter or React Native
Apple Pay or Google Pay
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
4+ years’ experience in fintech, financial services, telecoms, or payment systems
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
