Nkwazi is a premium media brand and content platform producing high-quality editorial, digital, social, video, and audio content across Zambia and beyond (print, web, podcasts, documentary storytelling).
The Role
We are hiring a Social Media Growth Manager to take full ownership of Nkwazi’s social media growth engine.
Your job is to:
- Grow reach and engagement with intent
- Drive measurable traffic to our website and shows
- Build and optimise paid campaigns properly
- Implement tracking and reporting so we know what works
- Run tests, learn fast, and improve weekly
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Growth & Strategy
- Own and execute the social growth strategy for Nkwazi Magazine, Nkwazi Unfiltered, and future projects.
- Build monthly growth plans with targets (reach, engagement, website traffic, subscriber growth, leads if applicable)
- Develop and manage content funnels (awareness → traffic → follow/subscribe → returning audience)
Paid Media
- Plan, run, and optimise paid campaigns across Meta Ads (and optionally Google Ads/YouTube where relevant)
- Manage budgets, targeting, creative testing, retargeting, and performance reporting
- Run weekly A/B tests (creative hooks, audiences, placements, landing pages) and document learnings
Tracking & Measurement
- Implement and manage campaign tracking: UTMs, conversion events, and reporting
- Work with our developer when needed to ensure tracking is correct (Meta Pixel / Conversions API / GA4 events)
- Produce clear weekly performance reports tied to outcomes (not vanity metrics)
Channel Management & Execution
- Plan and manage the content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Write strong copy in Nkwazi’s voice (sharp, intelligent, human)
- Coordinate with design and video teams to brief and request high-performing creatives (you are not expected to do all design/editing yourself)
- Monitor comments/DMs and set community management standards
Optimisation & Ownership
- Spot problems early (drop in reach, poor CTR, weak retention) and fix them without being chased
- Stay current on platform changes and apply what matters (ignore trends that don’t serve the brand)
What We’re Actually Looking For
- Proven experience growing serious accounts (media/brand/business), with examples
- Strong paid media competence: Ads Manager, targeting, optimisation, testing (not just boosting)
- Solid understanding of funnels, attribution, and tracking (UTMs, conversion events, GA4 basics)
- Strong copywriting and judgement (knows what not to post)
- Ability to lead creative direction with a team (briefing, feedback, iteration)
- Independent operator: structured, accountable, proactive
Tools You Should Be Comfortable With
- Meta Business Suite + Ads Manager
- Google Ads (nice-to-have if you’re strong on Meta)
- GA4 basics, UTM tracking
- Reporting dashboards/spreadsheets
- Scheduling tools
Qualifications
- Degree in Marketing/Comms/Media (or equivalent proof through results)
- Portfolio/case studies showing growth + paid performance
