Through its portfolio approach and support to Zambia’s Green Growth Strategy, UNDP is helping catalyze a just, low-carbon, and climate-resilient economic transition.

The Project Coordinator – Systems Finance Facility will be based in Lusaka and will support implementation of the Zambia Systems Finance Facility, a blended finance platform designed to mobilize private investment for climate- and nature-positive development. The role focuses on stakeholder coordination, investment pipeline development, sustainable finance, and support to innovative financing mechanisms for green growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination & Facility Implementation

  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of Facility activities in line with approved workplans and UNDP Zambia’s portfolio approach.
  • Support operationalization of the Zambia Systems Finance Facility and related programme activities.
  • Track implementation progress and support preparation of periodic progress reports.

2. Sustainable Finance & Investment Pipeline Development

  • Support identification and coordination of green and climate-resilient investment opportunities.
  • Engage with financial institutions, investors, government agencies, and private sector actors to strengthen investment pipelines.
  • Contribute to investment readiness and mobilization of private capital for sustainable development outcomes.

3. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Facilitate coordination among government institutions, regulators, development partners, and technical service providers.
  • Support organization of consultations, workshops, meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintain strong collaboration across public and private sector actors involved in green financing initiatives.

4. Research, Reporting & Knowledge Management

  • Prepare briefs, presentations, donor-facing materials, and strategic updates related to the Facility.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, good practices, and innovative financing approaches.
  • Contribute to evidence generation and reporting on climate finance and systems transformation initiatives.

5. Programme Support & Strategic Coordination

  • Provide coordination and analytical support to ensure alignment with Zambia’s Green Growth Strategy and climate action priorities.
  • Support implementation of integrated and multi-sectoral approaches within the UNDP portfolio framework.
  • Carry out additional tasks in support of UNDP Zambia’s programme delivery and operational priorities.

Profile Required

Experience

Minimum 7 years relevant experience, including:

  • Impact investment, sustainable finance, project coordination, or programme management
  • Climate, environmental, or green growth programming
  • Stakeholder engagement and partnership development across government, private sector, investors, and development partners
  • Experience supporting blended finance programmes, investment readiness initiatives, or project pipelines
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and reporting skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and dynamic environment

Education

Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Development Studies, Environmental Management, Public Policy, Sustainable Finance, or related field.

A first-level university degree with relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
